The Snowdome will be the first of its kind in the Middle East , and will provide a real and complete winter experience that touches all senses, providing a wide range of activities for people of all ages.
The dome – with its 220M diameter and 75M height – will be the largest free-standing dome structure in the world.
The Snowdome is a mixed-use project within the attraction and experience zone of Dubailand.
Including a rotating ski deck, mountain run, training area, snow play area, toboggan run, pinguinarium, ice skating rink, ice skating adventure area and a flying theatre featuring a virtual flight over the Antarctic and last but not least a five-star hotel, all contained within a climate controlled transparent dome structure.
In addition there are a number of lodging facilities – Iceberg Residences and Crystal Towers - surrounding and flanking the dome– architecturally all integrated within the entire concept of winterexperience – comprising of a four star hotel, four star serviced apartments and condominium hotel units.
The Snowdome is partially wrapped by a “crescent” of apartment buildings, which screen the dome from early morning sun - reducing heat load - and form a kind of “ice chasm” outside the dome: the Iceberg Residences.
The ice chasm will be a changing sound and light experience.
The exterior of the snowdome, crystal towers and Iceberg Residences will be similarly lit and changing.
The lodging component will be linked to the dome by a so-called link building – Volcano - featuring retail, food and beverage outlets, etc…
The close-up visitors experience starts as they enter the site viewing between the Crystal Towers , the “Volcano”.
The “Volcano” allows the visitors a number of parallel experiences.
It offers entry to the Crystal Towers and contains the day-to-day food and beverage offers required.
It provides pedestrian access to the snowdome and to the lower level specialist retail.
Each of the levels provides a personal choice of entertainment for the visitors.
Offers involve food and beverage themed offers linked to extreme climates experienced in North and South of our world where they also can experience the extraordinary beauty of these regions of our planet.
In addition to the excitement of the above there is also an educational spine that allows visitors to explore the wonderful world in which we all live.
Interactive displays will allow users to create adventures and challenges that enable them to learn a little more about their dynamic planet.
The entry road then takes visitors below ground into stylized car parks - deep blue grottos with ice lifts - all around the perimeter of the snowdome.
The lifts connect with a series of stations around the snowdome at Ground level. These stations feed a themed tramway/mini train – The Shuttle - continuously delivering guest to the Volcano.
Real Snow
The Snowdome will feature only real snow - no chemicals. Skiing will be made possible in a pleasant ambient temperature of around +10 degrees Centigrade. Skiers will be taken with a cable lift to the top of a ski slope where they can enjoy the beautiful view and the restaurants.
